Volunteering at Urban Roots again was a fun experienced where I was able to work alongside my brothers by doing farm work that would later benefit the community. I was able to help plot holes in soil for better oxygen circulation and dig a trench that would later help with some pipe repairs.
Gave some time to Urban roots as a rush event with my Fraternity Lambda Psi Rho
As a fraternity we collectively enhanced and completed a myriad of agricultural tasks around the farm. Through mass labor ,we also saved the workers all the monetary hours picking weeds, stomping holes, digging through pipelines, and cleaning overall.
Went to Urban Roots with some brothers to help them out. A few brothers and I helped to dig out the water pipeline that they created so that they could maintenance on it. Overall it was a great experience and a lot work. The man overseeing us was really grateful that we could come out to help.
Experience is not something learned, but something you do for yourself. This was not the first time I have signed up to do volunteer work for Urban Roots. This volunteer experience not only have taught me about agricultural lessons but a hint of what it would feel like running a farm. As someone who grew up in a town wherein agriculture and farming work is done and through Urban Roots, I have found a new appreciation and admiration for that industry. Doing volunteer work at Urban Roots is definitely something I recommend doing if people are looking for a fun and learning volunteer work.
Lambda Psi Rho volunteered at Urban Roots. We got to do a lot of gardening and it was a good time bonding with bRhos.
Urban roots was a fun. I learned how different types of compost work and its benefit towards the environment. Also got to do a lot of hands on activities.
The organizers mentioned that the weather was great this year and it went by very quickly with the amount of help that offered to show. It was a quick task to complete once we got the rhythm down.
