Become a Mentor and Make a BIG Impact!
Be a friend to a child and have fun with them on a weekly basis. By mentoring an at risk child for a small amount of time each week you can make a positive, long lasting impact on a child and our community!
At any given time, we have over 100 children on our waiting list so we have a great need for adults to volunteer in our program to be caring mentors and friends for the children that we serve.
We offer two fun programs that fit the needs of our Littles and also fit the schedules of our Bigs!
Site Based Program
This program is for Bigs 18 years and older and fits easily into a busy schedule (only one hour a week, same day weekly, during the school year only). Meet at your Little's school or after school program and eat lunch or a snack together and build a friendship by playing games, helping with homework, and getting to know each other.
Community Based Program
This program is for Bigs 21 years and older and offers more flexibility (1-3 hours a week on the day that works best for you, your Little and their family). Pick your Little up at their home and take them to do something fun in the community like a weekend hike, a trip to the museum, pizza night, etc. and then return them to their home after the outing.
We encourage our matches to do low cost or no cost activities to ensure the focus remains on building a meaningful relationship between Bigs and Littles.
We support matches in Reno, Sparks, Sun Valley and the Carson City area.
· 18 years or older · Must own reliable transportation · Commit to meeting with a child on a weekly basis for a minimum of 12 months
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life. If you have an extra bit of time to commit to building a friendship with a child each week, we encourage you to volunteer in our program!
