Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space

Regional Parks and Open Space is part of Washoe County's Community Services Department. Our mission is to provide exceptional parks, open space and recreational opportunities while preserving our natural, historical and cultural resources. Washoe County manages over 12,000 acres including over 10,000 acres of open space, 49 parks, an Arboretum, developed trails, trailheads, athletic fields, golf courses, a campground, a shooting facility, an archery facility, a museum, and so much more!

Volunteer Opportunity:
Volunteer opportunities exist within several parks throughout Washoe County including Rancho San Rafael Park Regional Park (including the Arboretum and May Museum), Lazy 5 Regional Park, North Valley's Regional Park, Bartley Ranch Regional Park, Hidden Valley Regional Park, Galena Creek Regional Park and Visitor Center, Bowers Mansion Regional Park, Davis Creek Regional Park, as well as various smaller neighborhood and river parks. We happily accept both groups and individuals. The majority of volunteer opportunities take place outdoors performing various projects to help maintain the parks, but we also occasionally recruit for volunteers to assist with events.

Park clean up: maintenance of park furniture; picking up rubbish, etc.; special events; working in discovery room: art, crafts and fun activities
