About
Join us for this year's Martin Luther King jr. Day of Service.
This year we'll be partnering with the Boys & Girls clubs of Truckee Meadows!
We will meet in front of the Jot Travis building at 8:20am and take the Connect shuttle over to the Boys & Girls club at 8:30am.
Once we get there, we'll read the kids a story about Martin Luther King Jr. and have a discussion about why we celebrate the day. We'll also help them write thank you letters to Civil Rights leaders who marched with Martin Luther King Jr. Afterward, we'll help the kids get signs ready for their own mini MLK Day march. After the march is over, we'll have lunch and also have a chance to listen to their guest speakers, Melissa DePino and Michelle Saahene, who developed frompriviledetoprogress.org after witnessing two Black men arrested for not buying coffee in a Starbucks. We will head back to campus at 1:00pm.
