Celebrate the 25th Annual National Public Lands Day with TMPF on Saturday, September 22nd! 9 AM - 12 PM
Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation will be hosting an invasive species removal event in Idlewild Park along the Truckee River.
TMPF will provide volunteers with tools, such as loppers, handsaws, and wheel-barrows for the removal of 'Ailanthus altissima', whose common name is "tree of heaven". This plant is a prolific seed producer and can thrive in even the most unfavorable conditions with little management. Its rapid growth also means that it can crowd out nearby native plant species, and its aggressive root system can cause damage to pavement, sewers, and building foundations. The Daily Bagel will be donating breakfast treats for all those who volunteer.
SHUTTLE SERVICES AVAILABLE FROM THE UNIVERSITY: Please contact: email@example.com by Thursday, 5 PM to reserve a seat.
