At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada we offer one-to-one mentoring to children ages 6-14 years old in our community. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of youth.

We need caring, adult volunteers that are willing to spend time having fun and being a friend to an at-risk child once a week.

Volunteer Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Available to meet with a child once a week for a minimum of 12 months

We offer two fun programs that fit the needs of our Littles and the schedules of our Bigs!

Site Based Program

This program is for Bigs 18 years and older and fits easily into a busy schedule (only one hour a week, same day weekly, only during the school year). Meet at your Little's school or after school program and eat lunch or a snack together and build a friendship by playing games, helping with homework, and getting to know each other.

Community Based Program

This program is for Bigs 21 years and older and offers more flexibility (1-3 hours a week on the day that works best for you and your Little). Pick your Little up at their home and take them to do something fun in the community like a weekend hike, a trip to the museum, pizza night, etc. and then return them to their home after the outing.

Please contact us today to set up an interview and get started!
