As a volunteer, you are welcome to watch the show for free. Our April 25th performance will be Walter Smith III with The Collective.  This event is also the kick-off concert for the 2019 Reno Jazz Festival.

Tenor saxophonist, Walter Smith III, is widely recognized as an adept performer and accomplished composer. He has recorded/toured with many Jazz notables and appears on over 100 recordings released worldwide. Smith recently released his 5th album as a leader, Twio (2018), with longtime trio of Harish Raghavan and Eric Harland including guest appearances by Christian McBride and Joshua Redman. The New York Times compares his band-leading ability to Miles Davis, "[he] uses some of that mid-60's Miles strategy and the best of it – is fabulous..."

The Collective — the University of Nevada, Reno's faculty jazz ensemble — known as one of the most creative and distinctive jazz ensembles in the northwestern United States, features pianist Adam Benjamin, bassist Hans Halt, drummer Andrew Heglund, and saxophonist Peter Epstein. In addition to maintaining a busy performance schedule, the group's members are dedicated instructors, and form the core of the Jazz Studies program at the University of Nevada, Reno.
